Fantastic Four entry

Maybe having a "cliff-hanger" ending in my last entry wasn't such a good idea. Sorry 'bout that. grimm0826 and suzysecret would've known who I was talking about. Where are they?

Orange cats are easy on the eyes. The FF's powerhouse on the other hand....

When I first came across the Fantastic Four cartoon, I didn't know the name of it. Didn't know the names of the characters either. Figured out the main characters were a quartet of heroes, but I in no way was an instant fan.

*No names known! Who do I see? Someone all-over orange, in front of me.*

He's not scary though! I don't think I averted my eyes away from fear, more like shock and surpise, something around those lines. I kept giving the cartoon a chance though, Saturday after Saturday. Something appealed to me. Something 'bout the quartet as a whole? Something 'bout the character I know as Ben Grimm?

Cool name, coming straight out of a fairy tale. It sounds good, and the character's nice too. I learned he underwent a transformation, but didn't know how, 'til I did research on the comicbook. (I'm not sure how I found out that the FF cartoon was based from a comicbook.)

After I learned Ben's name, I learned the names of his teammates. Reed Richards. Sue Richards. Johnny Storm. Total of 4 names. Thought I'd be through in the name department, but still had 4 more to learn. Three came to me super easily, because there was an animated intro. to everybody before the cartoon itself came on, and I caught three names. They were Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, and The Human Torch. I think I considered Ben to be someone I liked before I learned his moniker. He's caring at times, has a heart of gold, blue eyes (orange armor, blue eyes, heart of gold; colorful character for sure!), won't give up in a fight...

"No Ben! Let me! You'll become the Thing again!" -Sue Richards (dialogue from the 90s FF cartoon, in the episode titled "A Blind Man shall lead them".)

Took me awhile to learn context though. When I first heard this line, I had the last word uncapitalized in my mind. I didn't realize she had mentioned two names. It took a lot of listening to the cartoon, before I knew all 8 names associated with the FF.

the thing (phrase, which I've stopped liking)

The Thing (fictional character; Ben Grimm's second name)

A phrase turned proper. Didn't expect that to happen. Don't always like the name either. My choice on what to use, since the Fantastic Four don't have secret identies. This fact 'bout the team is one of the main reasons I am a fan of the FF.

I kept turning away at first, but eventually stopped that. Nothing to fear, nothing to hide from, and I was missing some of the action! Somehow I leapt this hurdle! I'm a Fantastic Four fan! One of Ben's biggest fans!

Ben Grimm forever!

Am I silly for being passionate about a fictional character? Maybe, but I can't help it. I've driven other FF fans nuts, the types that say Ben isn't truly Ben Grimm unless he's in human form. I don't believe that. It's true however that Ben's moniker is better known than his identity, at least among the fans. In more recent comics, it's become rare to see the name "The Thing" in print.

Where are you, grimm0826? You were thinking of possibly creating a Fantastic Four calendar for me. This month is almost over, and I haven't heard anything. I miss you so much!
