I don't like these expressions.

There are three expressions I don't like being said to me. They are "lighten up", "calm down", and "grow up". What does the first one mean? I've never understood it. I even asked somebody, but that person was no help. As far as the second one goes, I'm not the type of person to turn my emotions on and off like a lightswitch. I doubt anyone is like that, but I could be wrong. I'll calm down on my own time, thanks. I'll also grow up on my own time. I'm 22 years old, but mentally I'm a teenager. I have a different "growing up" schedule from most people. I wish my friends could understand this. I'm not a cheery person. Sometimes I'll be offended by someone, and will say so. I'll lash out verbally or via typed words. I'm not perfect. I never claimed to be.
